Life By You: Making an Open World Feel Alive
Crafting an immersive and populated open world game presents a considerable challenge. Typically, developers rely on rabbitholes or decorative buildings that serve as backdrops to lend a sense of density to the world. However, the Life by You team wanted to ensure that every element in the game adds to the overall gameplay, leaving no room for mere ornamental constructs.
In Life by You’s beach-themed environment, every visible building isn’t just a passive structure – it’s a tangible destination your human characters can explore. Each establishment, be it a commercial hub or a residential dwelling, is a fully functioning lot where human characters work, live and interact. The NPC characters truly inhabit the world – they carry out their daily activities entirely within the game’s bounds and never vanish at the edges of the map. The developers believe that such commitment to creating realistic and habitable spaces will successfully make the open world come alive.
The developers have also shared that the early access version will feature a world set along a beach. They have even released several concept art maps to provide a glimpse into the envisioned world. Although these maps represent early stages of development and might not perfectly match the final product in September, they offer a peek into the overall aesthetic planned for the world. The shared images create a sense of anticipation, promising a rich, lifelike open-world experience that will captivate players’ imaginations.
